By replacing your commercial chiller equipment, you could earn a rebate of up to $50 per kilowatt (kW) reduction over the baseline. Both new and existing construction projects qualify for this rebate.

How the program works

The rebate applies to commercial and industrial customers adding or replacing chiller equipment at their facility with high-efficiency upgrades that meet Tampa Electric's requirements. The program covers water-cooled centrifugal chillers, water-cooled scroll or screw chillers and air-cooled electric chillers.

Minimum qualifications for chillers are:

  • Water-Cooled Centrifugal Chillers
    Under 300 Tons = 0.581 kW/ton maximum with a 6.05 COP minimum
    300 – under 600 Tons = 0.535 kW/ton maximum with a 6.57 COP minimum
    Over 600 Tons = 0.535 kW/ton maximum with a 6.57 COP minimum
  • Water-Cooled Scroll or Screw Chillers
    Under 75 Tons = 0.706 kW/ton maximum with a 4.98 COP minimum
    75 – under 150 Tons = 0.679 kW/ton maximum with a 5.178 COP minimum
    150 – under 300 Tons = 0.626 kW/ton maximum with a 5.62 COP minimum
    300 – under 600 Tons = 0.581 kW/ton maximum with a 6.06 COP minimum
    Over 600 Tons = 0.535 kW/ton maximum with a 6.57 COP minimum
  • Air-Cooled Electric Chillers
    Any size = 1.081 kW/ton maximum with a 3.25 COP minimum

Note:A pre-verification is not required for the Chiller program.

Acquiring your rebate

Once the chiller installation is complete, please have the following information available before you begin the Chiller rebate application:

  • Tampa Electric customer account number
  • Contractor license number
  • Contractor license number expiration date

The application will prompt you to upload the following information:

  • Paid receipt/invoice (proof of purchase)
  • Specification sheets
  • AHRI reference sheet

The information above must be submitted to qualify for the rebate. Please allow four weeks for processing.

When you're ready, complete and submit the Chiller rebate application. Once you submit the application, you will receive an enrollment/confirmation number that you can use to access your application. Be sure to write down and save the enrollment/confirmation number.

To access an existing application, simply enter the enrollment/confirmation number you received when you initially submitted your application. This will allow you to make changes and upload any required files.
